Are window shutters suitable for living rooms?
Shutters are the perfect solution for any style of lounge. We find that many of our clients start by installing window shutters in their living room first, and then progress to other rooms in the house.
- With their good looks and versatility, shutters are a timeless trend ✓
- They introduce more privacy and intimacy to rooms and also provide valuable insulation ✓
- Choose from a range of contemporary styles, shapes and finishes that will add an exciting dimension to any scheme ✓
- Each shutter is bespoke and made to measure to reflect the individual architecture of the window. ✓
Shutters are ideal for people who want privacy without sacrificing valuable daylight. Louvres can be angled according to the sun’s position, and when shut, they’re a great way to keep out prying eyes and therefore a good security option. Perfect if your house is on a busy street.
Which range and style is best suited to a living room?
To be honest, all of our ranges would be suitable for living rooms. The vast majority of our clients opt for our entry level Seattle MDF product which is extremely durable and hard wearing.
Sometimes, our hardwood Montana product may be required for technical reasons, as it’s lighter, but we can advise you further on this at your free home design visit.
We have a variety of materials available, starting from our entry level Seattle MDF range right up to the premium Montana hardwood range.
In terms of style, Full Height shutters would be ideal. These cover the whole of the window which provides you with maximum privacy and light control, and also assists with keeping heat in the room in the winter, and out in the summer.
What colours can I choose from?
Our Seattle MDF range is available in the nine painted shades below. If you want to custom colour match you’ll need to choose from one of our other ranges.

How can my shutters be configured?
We have a number of louvre sizes to choose from. Our 63mm louver remains our most popular choice. You can also choose between the traditional centre tilt rod to open and close the louvers, and our hidden tilt control mechanism.
