Are shutters a good option for downstairs living spaces?
Whether you’re looking to dress windows in your kitchen, kitchen-diner, dining room, living room or snug, window shutters are going to give you the most flexibility in terms of light and privacy control.
They’re also the rooms you’re going to use most, and will be most visible to your friends and neighbours. Fitting a selection of window shutters that complement each other across the whole floor, is the most stylish window dressing choice you can make.
- Our Georgia range is ideally suited to busy living spaces, but you could choose from any of our other ranges. Stylish like our hardwood ranges, but more resistant to everyday wear and tear. ✓
- Opt for full height or cafe style shutters for windows at the front of the house where you may need additional privacy, but also need the light ✓
- Tracked shutters are an option for large, glazed areas at the rear ✓
- Shutters are easy to maintain and clean ✓
What is the best window covering for a kitchen?
All of our ranges are suitable for a kitchen. We may recommend our Hollywood waterproof product if the window is very close to a sink and likely to be regularly splashed.
Can I fit shutters to bi-fold, sliding or French doors?
Yes, in most circumstances, shutters would be an option on French or patio doors.

What style of shutter is going to give me the most privacy?
Full height shutters give the most privacy as they cover the whole of the window.
Can shutters be opened to expose glazing?
Yes, all of our shutter panels open like a door so you can easily access the windows behind to clean or open them.

Can shutters be fitted to bay windows?
Shutters look stunning on bay windows and are perfectly suited to this style of window. Shutters follow the angles of the bay to provide the perfect window covering whilst not encroaching on the space in your room which curtains can do.

Which range and style is best suited to a kitchen-diner?
We recommend our Georgia range for busy downstairs living spaces. It’s hard wearing and looks as good as our hardwood product, but at a more affordable price. Our Seattle or hardwood ranges would be just as suitable, it all comes down to your budget.
We have a variety of materials available, starting from our entry level Seattle MDF range right up to the premium Montana hardwood range.
Full height shutters remain our most popular style as they give you the most control over both light and privacy.
What colours can I choose from?
