Will shutters help keep my conservatory cool?
Shutters are an excellent insulator and will assist in keeping a conservatory cool in summer and warm in winter. The materials used have good thermo properties and will reflect the sun when closed in summer, trapping heat before it can enter the room. They are an excellent and stylish solution for shading a conservatory which will often have large glazed sections and whilst blinds are an option, they are not as effective as shutters.
Can you fit shutters to the conservatory roof?
You can fit shutters to a conservatory roof but this can only be done if the structure of the roof is strong enough to take the weight of the shutters. Timber framed conservatories are ideal for roof shutters – other constructions need to be assessed as to the feasibility of installation. Where there is a potential issue, we will always advise on this and suggest alternative solutions.
Can you still open windows with shutters?
All of our shutter panels open like a door so you can easily access the windows behind to clean or open them.
Which range and style is best suited to a conservatory?
Our Boston Premium hardwood range is what we tend to recommend to our clients for their conservatories. It’s actually lighter than some of our other ranges. Many conservatories we’re asked to estimate for involve making provision for unusual shapes. A hardwood range is going to be a prerequisite for any shaped shutters.
We have a variety of materials available, starting from our entry level Seattle MDF range right up to the premium Montana hardwood range.
Full height shutters remain our most popular style as they give you the most control over both light and privacy.
