Are shutters suitable for a child’s bedroom or playroom?
Plantation shutters are the perfect solution for a child’s bedroom or nursery because there are no potentially hazardous cords or chains and the shutters provide an extra layer of security as they cover the whole window including openings.

Will my shutters keep out the light?
Shutters are excellent at shading a room and the louvres allow you to angle the light to your preference. They do a better job at keeping light out of a room than blinds, due to their frame. To provide a better level of light closure, we recommend a shutter with an integrated blind or, where space allows, mounting a roller blind behind the shutters.
Do shutters block out outdoor noise?
Yes, shutters will assist with reducing outdoor noise when the panels and louvers are closed. They will not soundproof a room but will assist with reducing moderate noise pollution that you wish to hear less of. Shutters are made to measure for your window space and therefore cover the entire area, thus letting less noise through. Shutters can sometimes also be installed where you have secondary glazing, providing another barrier to noise.
Are shutters easy to clean and maintain?
Shutters are very easy to clean and maintain and arguably the easiest of all window dressings to keep clean. We would recommend a microfibre cleaning or dusting cloth.
Which range and style is best suited to a nursery?
We have a variety of materials available, starting from our entry level Seattle MDF range right up to the premium Montona hardwood range.
Full height remains our most flexible and favoured solution – where a window is covered from top to bottom with one panel.
