Solid shutters are a stunning window dressing that can add a stylish finish to any room’s décor.
We were contacted by our client in Hastings, East Sussex, to dress their ground floor apartment within a large period property. The view from their living room window is unobscured so privacy was not a concern. The purpose of the shutters was to finish dressing the room and to offer a way of shutting the world out of an evening, as and when required.
Solid shutters are less flexible than our louvered option. They have to be fully open to allow light in. When closed, though, they will afford a high level of light closure.
We offer the solid raised design. This is very in keeping with a period property and available in a wide choice of colours.
The living/dining room in this case had a single window and a rear door with windows either side. These are straightforward to install shutters in and we decided on multiple panels per opening to minimise the impact of the shutters when they are folded open.
Solid shutters are only available in two of our hardwood ranges and in this case, we have utilised a fashionable grey colour option. To finish the design, our client opted for crystal doorknobs, which they sourced themselves for us to fit. We are thrilled with the end result which has added a level of cosiness to the room.
