Fantastic company, excellent product, installation and customer service. Five stars all round. Ms H, Haywards Heath, on our Find A Master Craftsman page
Once a convent in Haywards Heath, this property over three floors has been converted into residential dwellings which are truly stunning homes. With huge windows and high ceilings, shutters are the ideal window dressing and provide perfect added insulation for the original windows. As a listed building, there is no possibility of upgrading to modern triple glazed units, so shutters are the next best option.
For phase one the client wanted to dress three bedrooms, two bathrooms and the living room.
The shutters were ordered in our MDF (Seattle) range for the top floor bedrooms, with a 76mm louvre in Bright White with stainless steel hinges.

Hollywood waterproof shutters with the same options were preferred for the bathrooms and solid raised, hardwood shutters, also with stainless steel hardware were chosen for the living room and middle floor bedroom.

These were installed in March 2019 and we were back three months later for phase two.
The entrance hall window shutter was from our solid shutter range. Bright White again with stainless steel hardware, in a café style to ensure heavily mullioned stone windows would still be visible above.

The landing windows though were a much more unique request.
Both landing windows were large and drafty, but totally stunning with their gothic features. Dressing these windows for insulation, but maintaining their aesthetic presence was key. Fortunately, our client was adamant on their choice.
It was decided that a custom colour Farrow & Ball shade of ‘Railings’ (which is nearly Black) would be used on the solid shutters, again with stainless steel hardware.
Using six panels across the opening, we could keep the stacks quite narrow within the reveals, so that they could be opened for light in the daytime.
The dramatic colour is truly eye-catching in the tall landing areas and they look like they have always been there, rather than taking over from the period features of the property.
This was one of our most striking installs of 2019. We were delighted that our client had the vision to see the final article and we are thrilled with the results, especially as the are so in keeping with the property.
